There will be no trains from Wye on Sunday 3rd December

This is to enable planned engineering works between Ashford and Ramsgate to go ahead. All services from London will terminate at Ashford International. Buses will replace trains services on Sunday between Ashford International and Ramsgate via Canterbury West. However, Wye level crossing should remain open all day, as KCC has not issued a road closure notice. Normal scheduled services from Wye should resume with the 05.31 on Monday 4th December.. £4,950.42 raised for Wye Village Hall's Wye Centre project

Over the past year the simple act of shopping at Wye Co-op has raised a remarkable £4,950.42 for Wye Village Hall's Wye Centre project. Every time a Co-op member bought Co-op own brand products and shopping bags from Wye Co-op food store, the Co-op gave 1% of what they spent to a local cause that they nominated, and put a further 5% into the member's personal account. Kent County Council has issued an Urgent Temporary Prohibition of Driving Order affecting Blackwall Road, Hinxhill. KCC Highways will close Blackwall Road in the vicinity of Great Bromley Farm, Wye on Wednesday 29th November. This Prohibition Order is valid for up to five days until 5th December, but works should only take three days to complete. This road closure is necessary to enable KCC Highways to undertake road drainage works under this narrow road to deal with.. Read More »

Wye Level Crossing will be closed 01.00-18.00 Sunday 26th November

This is to allow level crossing maintenance and other engineering works to be carried out at Wye and elsewhere. Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on Wye Level Crossing. Bridge Street will be closed in the vicinity of the Level Crossing, and there will be no direct access between the A28 and Wye. Overnight engineering works will close Wye Station tonight

Network Rail has notified the Parish Council that its contractors will be fitting new insulators between the tracks and the concrete sleepers. Residents have been warned that the work will be noisy. Network Rail will close the line between 23.50 and 04.50 on Tuesday 7th November. Wye and District raised £6,860.60 for the Poppy Appeal

Wye and District raised £6,860.60 for the Poppy Appeal

Thanks to the generosity of everyone involved, Wye and District raised a total of £6,860.60 for the 2016 Poppy Appeal, during the year to the end of September. Yesterday, 40 volunteers started collecting door-to door for the 2017 Poppy Appeal.

The record sum raised in 2016 reflects the strong local support and combined donations of thousands of residents, and all the people who host collection boxes at their schools.. Read More »
