And the Quiz Night winners are...

Seventeen teams of up to 8 battled it out for victory and champagne prizes on Saturday night, with Wye Arts Association squeaking past the Growbags by half a point. They scored an impressive 86.5 points out of a possible 110. The Hall was at capacity and great fun was had by all on the fourth annual Village Hall Quiz Night, and the Stage Two Wye Centre project benefited by a record £1,397. Draft WYE3 Masterplan opens for consultation

Draft WYE3 Masterplan opens for consultation

Parish councillors met 29th March at short notice to consider their first impressions of the Draft WYE3 Masterplan, which Ashford Borough Council (ABC) issued earlier in the week.

Canterbury West disruption:  all lines have now reopened

Following signalling problems this morning at Canterbury West which blocked the lines in both directions, all lines have now reopened. Train services running through this station may be delayed by up to 45 minutes or revised or diverted between Ramsgate and Ashford International. The disruption is expected to last until 09.45. Completely over the top

KCC Highways closed Church Street on Thursday morning to enable a mobile crane to install a glass apex roof at the rear of Swan House. The specialist crane from Essex lifted the large glass panels over the top of Wakelins shop and Swan House. KCC has postponed this road closure several times since November because of high winds and safety concerns.

KCC Highways to divert Brook traffic through Wye

KCC will close The Street, Brook to through traffic on Monday 15th January 2018. This to allow works to be carried out to provide new gas and electricity supplies in the vicinity of Woodpecker Cottages. The estimated completion date is Friday 19th January.

Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of The Street, Brook, near Ashford. Access to the remainder of The Street continues.. Read More »

Christmas treecycling scheme raised over £17,000 in 2017 for Pilgrims' Hospices

This year charity volunteers will collect Christmas trees for a donation on the weekend of 13th and 14th January 2018. The Pilgrims' Hospices tree collection service and fundraising event is only available in the Ashford Borough Council area. Online registration will close at midnight on Sunday 7th January. Many thanks to all Wye Co-op members who raised £4,950.42 for local causes

Of this amazing sum raised in 2017, £1,628.72 has just helped to replace the roof on Wye Village Hall. Wye Co-op has now started the 2018 round of funding, and the three new causes are' Community Development', 'Health' and 'Young People'. Wye Co-op has just closed for Christmas, but it will reopen on Boxing Day. Friendly elves will keep the shop open for the rest of the Christmas and New Year holiday week for all the essentials, and those last minute 'nice to have' items.. Read More »
