Hi Kent runs free hearing aid aftercare clinics in towns, villages and communities throughout Kent. The clinics are run by trained volunteers and they will be able to change batteries, clean and re-tube hearing aids free of charge, while you wait.

Volunteers will ensure your hearing aid works well for you and give advice about Hi Kent's extensive range of specialist equipment, free assessment service for the over 65's and lipreading, sign language and deaf awareness classes and tinnitus support groups.

If you are housebound and cannot get to your local clinic, please ask Hi Kent to visit you in your home. Hi Kent is a registered charity for deaf and hard of hearing people. Established since 1986, Hi Kent received the Queen's Award for Voluntary Service in 2007. Big Conversation - Rural Bus Services

19.00 - 21.00

KCC wants to find out if there is an innovative and sustainable way of providing transport to rural communities in Kent and we want to explore our ideas with you.

The consultation will run from 13th June to 8th August 2018.

Against a backdrop of ever decreasing funding for local councils KCC want to maintain, and where possible, improve accessibility for those without an alternative means of travel in rural areas. This will help tackle social isolation and provide the right transport solution for the right customer need, at the right price.

Homewood School, Ashford Road, Tenterden, TN30 6LT

Big Butterfly Count 2018 - Start

Big Butterfly Count 2018 - Start

Fri, 20 Jul 2018

Help the charity Butterfly Conservation take nature's pulse by joining the big butterfly count.

20th July - 12th August Find out more about this project

Butterflies react very quickly to change in their environment which makes them excellent biodiversity indicators. Butterfly declines are an early warning for other wildlife losses.

That's why counting butterflies can be described as taking the pulse of nature.

The count will also assist us in identifying trends in species that will help us plan how to protect butterflies from extinction, as well as understand the effect of climate change on wildlife.

The big butterfly count is a nationwide survey aimed at helping us assess the health of our environment. It was launched in 2010 and has rapidly become the world's biggest survey of butterflies. Over 60,000 people took part in 2017, submitting 62,500 counts of butterflies and day-flying moths from across the UK (see all the 2017 results).
