Wye Death Cafe

Sat, 06 Apr 2019 10:12

A death café is a relaxed and informal way to come together and talk about death and dying. It is not a bereavement or counselling session, rather a safe space to talk about a subject we often avoid as part of our daily conversations.

All are welcome but spaces are limited so please call or email to let us know you are coming.

For more information or to book your space please call 01227 812616 or email

education@pilgrimshospices.org

Free refreshments and cake are provided.

East Kent Ride 2019

The ride will start and finish at Olantigh Park, Wye, Ashford, Kent. For sat-navs enter TN25 5BP

"The East Kent Ride is the longest running, sponsored ride of its kind in the South East. Our team of dedicated volunteers pull together to ensure the ride runs smoothly for our hundreds of horse and rider combinations.

The ride is routed over the North Downs, with stunning scenery and plenty of off road riding. We have riders of all capabilities enjoying the varied terrain of grass, tracks and country lanes as well as 20 optional fences for those who want to leave the ground.

The route has several sections of well maintained obstacles which have a choice of heights. The smaller option generally tends to be 1-2ft high, the larger from about 2ft6-3ft then the famous final section has larger and more challenging fences."

This is a sponsored ride, the more you raise the more EKR is able to donate to very worthy causes, this year these are , Canterbury. This year we will really be encouraging the sponsorship, in 40 years we have raised £250,000."

Minimum sponsorship of £5 is payable on the day, although we encourage you to pay your sponsorship in full on the day. The three supported charities this year are Winston's Wish, which provides face-to face support and bereavement services to help children and young people cope with their grief and the Kent Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance which has already attended over 50 emergencies in the first half of January, as this live mission map shows, and flies in daylight hours 365 days a year. The third charity is Pilgrims Hospices which serves east Kent and helps people who are facing incurable illness to live well in every moment, in mind and body.
