Bookings open for the East Kent Ride 2019

Bookings are open online for the East Kent Ride, which will take place on Sunday 14th April 2019. The sponsored ride will start and finish at Olantigh Park, Wye. The spring ride through the North Downs area of outstanding natural beauty, has raised over £250,000 for charity over the past 42 years.

Wye Level Crossing closure: nine mile detour for drivers

Network Rail will close the road and footway over Wye level crossing from 23:45 on Monday 14th January, until 05.00 on Tuesday 15th January. This will enable enable engineers to make a rail foot inspection of the level crossing. Hinxhill Road closed again for emergency repairs

Hinxhill Road closed again for emergency repairs

Part of Hinxhill Road is now expected to remain closed for emergency repairs until 18.00 Sunday 13th January. This is to enable contractors Clancy Docwra to repair a leaking water main. KCC Highways has closed the between the junctions of Goodcheap Lane and Plumpton. The alternative route is via Plumpton, Bockham Lane, A20 Hythe Road, The Street and Hinxhill Road.

The planning application 17/1646/AS for 14 three storey dwellings on the former Wye Goods Yard site will be decided by an Inspector, not by Ashford Borough Council. Without warning KCC has issued a temporary road closure notice for a week to enable repairs to a dangerous inspection cover in the High Street Wye, opposite the former Wye College Porters Lodge. The drain cover worked loose again and the tarmac around the fitting was breaking up and sinking, creating a hazard, especially for cyclists.
