Wye prepares to commemorate the centenary of the Armistice

Wye prepares to commemorate the centenary of the Armistice

The war memorial will be the focus of remembrance in Wye at 11.00 Sunday 11th November. This year, as Armistice Day and Remembrance Sunday coincide, the ceremony with half muffled bells, the two minute silence and the laying of wreaths as an act of remembrance will take place 100 years to the minute after the Armistice. A new plaque will be dedicated to commemorate the sacrifice of past generations and to mark the centenary of the Armistice. A second plaque beside Churchfield Green already records its designation as a Centenary Field.
